NovaStar CVT8-5GS 40G Fiber Converter Overview
The NovaStar CVT8-5GS is a single-mode fiber converter for long-distance LED display data transmission. It converts optical and electrical signals between a compatible sending controller and the LED display system, providing full-duplex transmission with strong resistance to interference. A 40 Gbit/s optical link is converted into eight independent 5G BaseT Ethernet connections.
The CVT8-5GS is designed for fixed installations, touring systems, control rooms and other projects where copper cable distance or electrical interference makes a fiber link the better choice. Its supplied optical module is hot-swappable, and the single-mode connection supports transmission distances of up to 10 km.

Installation and Package Contents
The practical chassis can be installed horizontally, suspended or mounted in a rack. Two CVT8-5G units can be combined into one 1U-wide assembly. A single unit can also be paired with the supplied connecting piece for rack installation.
The standard package includes one power cord, one USB cable, two 40G optical modules (including one for the controller), supporting brackets, one connecting piece, mounting screws, an assembly diagram and a certificate of approval.

Choose the CVT8-5GS for single-mode fiber links up to 10 km. The NovaStar CVT8-5GM is the multi-mode version: it uses 850 nm optics and supports up to 100 m with OM3 fiber or 150 m with OM4 fiber. Both models provide one 40G optical port and eight 5G BaseT Ethernet ports.
